Founder’s Cup Community Golf Tournament

The Founders Cup

The Annual Founders Cup Wall of Honor Dinner and Golf Tournament established to support youth golf, will honor E. Llwyd Eccelstone who in 1969 founded John’s Island Club. We recognize Mark Mulvoy for his contributions to the game of golf/community. We will recognize Tara Joy Connelly and Tom Slater as players of the game and honor Steve Hanlon for his contributions in Player Development.

The Wall of Honor Dinner

In addition to the Founder, the Indian River Golf Foundation (IRGF) has established a special committee to determine criteria for recognizing other honorees including service to the game, players, and player development. The annual class of honorees will be recognized at the Wall of Honor Celebration Dinner. There will also be a keynote speaker.

The Tournament

Established as a “premier” event, the annual Founder’s Cup Community Golf Tournament features foursomes representing area golf facilities and special guests. The annual Award presented to the winning team will be named in honor of the founders being recognized each year.

Future Honorees

Considerable research and input from the community and host facilities will help to determine future honorees who contributed greatly to service of the game and reached high achievements as players and player development.

The IRGF Board of Directors and Honorary Board extends an Open Invitation to members/patrons of area golf facilities and friends of the IRGF. Register as a group or individually. Special guests will be families of honorees and current youth players in recognition of their high achievements. This is the beginning of a tradition honoring those who contributed to the game of golf & community.
