Signature Events & Grand Slam Series

Competitive. Community-Driven. Mission-Focused.

Tournaments That Build Leaders and Change Lives

Each year, the Indian River Golf Foundation hosts a series of premier tournaments that bring together players, coaches, families, and sponsors to support youth golf in our community. These aren’t just events, they’re opportunities to invest in young athletes, honor local legends, and help shape the next generation through the game of golf.

IRGF’s Grand Slam Series includes four signature events open to golfers of all skill levels, with proceeds supporting scholarships, tournament travel, equipment, and year-round programming.

Founders Cup

The Founders Cup is the Indian River Golf Foundation's premier celebration of golf heritage, community leadership, and the individuals whose vision and dedication helped shape the game throughout Indian River County. More than a golf tournament, the Founders Cup honors the founders, golf professionals, club leaders, volunteers, and community supporters whose contributions have created opportunities for generations of golfers.

Held as both a Community Golf Tournament and Wall of Honor Celebration Dinner, the Founders Cup showcases the rich history of local golf facilities while recognizing those who have played a significant role in their development and success. The event serves as a living connection between the past, present, and future of the game, ensuring that the stories, traditions, and accomplishments of local golf pioneers are preserved and celebrated.

A unique aspect of the Founders Cup is its focus on education and appreciation. Host golf facilities are featured based on the order in which they were founded, allowing youth golfers and community members to learn about the history of the courses they play and the people who helped establish them. Through this experience, young players gain a deeper understanding of the leadership, commitment, and community support required to build and sustain thriving golf facilities.

The event culminates with the IRGF Wall of Honor Celebration Dinner, where distinguished individuals are recognized for their lasting impact on golf and the community. Honorees are celebrated for their leadership, service, stewardship of local golf facilities, and commitment to growing the game. Recognition categories include Founder Honorees and Service to the Game and Community Honorees, highlighting those whose efforts have strengthened golf throughout the region.

The Founders Cup also provides an opportunity for area golf facilities to recognize and thank their golf professionals, superintendents, club managers, directors, members, and patrons whose dedication contributes to the success of the game every day. Through competition, fellowship, education, and recognition, the Founders Cup celebrates the people who built golf's foundation in our community while inspiring future generations to carry that legacy forward.

Alma Lee Loy Team Challenge

The Alma Lee Loy Team Challenge honors the life and legacy of Alma Lee Loy, a beloved community leader whose dedication to service, education, youth development, and philanthropy helped shape Indian River County for generations. Known for her tireless commitment to improving the lives of others, Alma Lee Loy believed in the importance of creating opportunities for young people and strengthening the community through leadership, volunteerism, and education.

The Indian River Golf Foundation is proud to celebrate her legacy through this annual event, which reflects many of the values she championed throughout her life: opportunity, mentorship, perseverance, and community involvement. By bringing people together through the game of golf, the Alma Lee Loy Team Challenge serves as a tribute to her enduring impact while helping support programs that introduce youth to the game and the life lessons it teaches.

Alma Lee Loy's influence continues to be felt throughout Indian River County, and this event stands as a reminder of the difference one person can make through a lifetime of service to others.

Collegiate Am

The Collegiate-Am is a celebration of the Indian River Golf Foundation's long term impact on youth golf development. The event brings together former IRGF participants who have advanced to collegiate golf, current junior golfers, community supporters, and golf professionals in a unique experience that showcases the complete player pathway from introduction to the game through collegiate competition.

More than a tournament, the Collegiate-Am represents the success stories made possible through years of mentorship, instruction, competitive opportunities, and community support. Former IRGF players return as collegiate athletes, inspiring the next generation while demonstrating what is possible through dedication, hard work, and access to opportunity.

The event provides current youth golfers and their families the chance to interact with collegiate players, learn about the collegiate golf experience, and gain insight into the opportunities available through the game. It also highlights the Foundation's commitment to developing golfers both on and off the course by fostering confidence, leadership, sportsmanship, and educational achievement.

The Collegiate-Am serves as a living example of the Indian River Golf Foundation's mission in action, connecting past, present, and future generations of golfers while celebrating the life changing impact golf can have on young people throughout our community.

Mayors Cup

The Mayor's Cup is one of the Indian River Golf Foundation's premier traditions, bringing together many of the area's top amateur golfers, club professionals, and community leaders in a unique team competition that celebrates both excellence in golf and service to the game. The event is designed to showcase high level competitive golf while fostering camaraderie, mentorship, and community engagement.

Beyond the competition itself, the Mayor's Cup honors individuals who have made a meaningful impact on golf and the local community through special awards and presentations, including recognition such as the Alex MacWilliam Sr. Award and the Steven C. Owen Award. These awards help distinguish the event as more than a tournament; it is a celebration of leadership, sportsmanship, and the lasting influence of golf throughout Indian River County.

For more than a decade, the Mayor's Cup has served as a gathering point for accomplished players, golf professionals, junior golfers, and supporters of the Foundation, reflecting the IRGF's commitment to preserving the traditions of the game while inspiring future generations. It is a celebration of competition, community, and the people who continue to elevate golf in our region.
