Player Cadet Program
Lead. Mentor. Grow.
The Player Cadet Program began in 2013 as a way for high school golfers to assist with After School Golf. Today, with the launch of the Indian River Virtual Golf Academy (VGA), the role has expanded into the Player Cadet Specialist program. These young leaders combine golf knowledge, technology, and media skills to support IRGF’s mission while developing personal leadership and professional readiness.
What Is the Player Cadet Program?
IRGF’s Player Cadet Program invites mature, motivated youth to step into leadership. Cadets assist less experienced players during training sessions and tournaments, serve as peer role models, and learn what it means to lead on and off the course.
“You don’t have to be the best golfer to be the best example.”
What Cadets Do
- Support less experienced players during SNAG and TAS sessions
- Help with setup, scoring, peer coaching, and wrap-up duties
- Demonstrate rules, etiquette, and sportsmanship
- Model the 5 Pillars: Skills, Strategy, Respect, Leadership, Self-Care
- Participate in exclusive leadership workshops and cadet-only events

Expanded Opportunities
Player Cadet Specialists gain hands-on experience that extends beyond golf:
-
On-Course Demonstrations – Modeling golf shots and drills for younger players
-
On-Range – TRADITIONAL After School Programs – Assisting the instructors by working with their own set of youth players, helping to guide them through the stations.
-
Photography & Videography – Capturing highlights from practices, tournaments, and events
-
Content Integration – Linking to quality instructional videos and digital tools
-
Part-time and mentorship opportunities – Our local community understands the value of our cadet system and often seeks our references for part-time employment at their club or facilities.
